What happens in a hysterectomy?
We use a very small camera on the end of a thin tube/straw (called the hysteroscope) and gently put this into the patient’s cervix (similar to a pap test) and assess the uterus. This allows us to look directly into the space or cavity of the uterus to check for any possible polyps, visible fibroids or other concerns that might affect your ability to conceive or deliver.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I consider seeing an obstetrician? If you are considering a pregnancy or have recently become pregnant, we recommend you seek the guidance and advice of an obstetrician as a great first step. They’ll be able to walk you through what to expect, offer helpful pointers, and assess any risks related to your pregnancy. This will be based on your personal and family health history and lifestyle.
As we usually measure pregnancy in weeks and considering 40 weeks is the normal pregnancy duration, your first visit should be about 12 weeks from your last period. You can definitely come sooner if you have any questions or concerns.
  • From 12-28 weeks, your visits are generally every 4 weeks.
  • From 28-36 weeks, your visits are generally every 2 weeks.
  • From 36 weeks until you deliver your baby, your visits are weekly
